Để tiến hành “Dọn dẹp Windows 10 (Win 10) với chức năng “Free up space now“, Khi bạn nhấn vào “Settings > System > Storage > Free up space now”, hệ thống sẽ tiến hành kiểm tra ổ cứng và sau khi quá trình quét hoàn tất, bạn sẽ thấy các tùy chọn như trong ảnh chụp màn hình bên dưới:
Có 1 số lựa chọn Windows 10 đánh dấu mặc định để xóa khi bạn chạy tiện ích này. Lưu ý rằng nó không chọn Recycle bin (sọt rác) (vốn chứa những thứ nên được dọn dẹp và giúp làm trống ổ đĩa của bạn). Khi sử dụng công cụ này, tôi thường bỏ chọn Thumbnail. Ngoài ra tôi chọn các mục Delivery Optimization, Recycle Bin và cả System Created Windows Error Reporting Files. Những lựa chọn còn lại nên được chọn để dọn dẹp làm trống ổ đĩa cứng mà không ảnh hưởng gì đến hệ thống của bạn.
Vào tháng 8 năm 2018, Microsoft đã lặng lẽ thông báo rằng họ sẽ ngừng sử dụng Disk Cleanup nhưng nhưng đến giờ vẫn giữ “vì lý do tương thích”. Nhiều khả năng lý do thật sự là do người dùng và quản trị viên đã quen thuộc với công cụ và dòng lệnh “cleanmgr.exe”.
