To start "Clean up Windows 10 (Win 10) with the “Free up space now” function“, When you click on “Settings > System > Storage > Free up space now”, the system will conduct a hard drive check and once the scan is complete, you will see options as shown in the screenshot below. below:
There are several options that Windows 10 marks by default to clear when you run this utility. Note that it doesn't select the Recycle bin (which contains things that should be cleaned up and helps empty your drive). When using this tool, I usually uncheck Thumbnails. Also I choose items Delivery Optimization, Recycle Bin and both System Created Windows Error Reporting Files. The remaining options should be selected to clean up the hard drive without affecting your system.
In August 2018, Microsoft quietly announced that they would stop using Disk Cleanup but have kept it "for compatibility reasons" for now. Most likely the real reason is because users and administrators are familiar with the “cleanmgr.exe” tool and command line.
